Melissa Matherne is an ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves to get things done. She is experienced  working with demanding clients (especially Founders), tight deadlines and large, complex projects. A disciplined marketer who understands the power of building brand equity and developing national programs that resonate with audiences, with extensive experience in both B to B and B to C organizations.

  • Conducted consumer research, leveraged insight to create brand identity & brand standards

    facilitated strong partnerships with organizations like: Flash Tattoos, Holy
    Kombucha, SXSW, C3 Presents, The United Nations and Beach Road Designs

  • Tripled web impressions through Google Adwords and promoted keywords

  • Increased targeted Paid Traffic to site by 46%, and on track to increase direct
    targeted website users by 75% by the end of 2016

  • Increased email open rates by 23% with an average open rate of 36%

  • Managed all social media platforms; results included increase of 1,000 likes on
    Facebook, 2,500 followers on Instagram and 1,000 new followers on Twitter over the course of one year

  • Responsible for executing international events including venue research, contract negotiation, food and beverage selection, audiovisual, signage, entertainment, décor, transportation, delegate registration, speaker communications, and sponsorship program fulfillment

  • Managed financial facet of operations with accounting contractor: budget forecast, vendor negotiations, budget approval, financial and event review in the inaugural year as a 501(c)3 organization

Special Olympics Texas: Development Director

  • Developed effective public relations, promotions plans and materials to be used in conjunction with fund raising projects to ensure positive and consistent branding of organization

  • Updated event planning timeline from a two month lead time to a 6-8 month timeframe while adding three innovative signature events in 2012

  • Prepared diversified fund raising plans to include high grossing signature special events, multiple third party events, marketing goals and objectives to achieve approved budget of $750,000 in four areas including: Mission, Laredo, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Austin

Alliance Safety Council: Director of Marketing + Special Events

  • ​Developed overall marketing and sales strategies, including advertising and online campaigns and promotions for multiple national programs and products

  • Recruited, trained, delegated, motivated and evaluated the performance of volunteers for all events
